Contractions

Today it is Monday and we have been learning Contractions or we call them apostrophes and asqaushtrophes because they squash two words together to make one word. Here are some reasons why to use contractions.

You don't have to write as much
It's quicker to write one word then two words
Makes the word shorter

Here are some examples of a Contracton word.

Would not = wouldn't
I am = I'm
He has = he's

What's happening this week?

Today is Monday 20th of October and today is Ag Day. For Ag Day you can bring in a calf, a kid or a lamb.

We are going to have a full reds rehearsal for Hooray for Goodwood Primary Day, our production for the middle syndicate.

Athletics training has started! We can't wear a skirt or a dress unless it has leggings or shorts underneath it.

Aquifer System

In ruma weka our group has been doing an inquiry on the Aquifer System. We have mad a model of two water tanks attached together by a pump. One has dirty water in it and it pumps water into the other tank to make it work. As the dirty water goes through our filter which is made from sand and gravel. This turns into clean water and drips into the bottom of the tank.

Sewage science

We made the structure with pipes, rope, tape, cardboard we had to do lots to problem solving.
We cut the pipes with a saw to make it the right height. Now we are up to making the inside to the toilet.

Telephones

Our inquiry group is focusing on phones and now we are taking them apart to see what's inside of them. Tom brang his sisters broken IPod to school so we all took it apart and Ms Copping gave us her old phone so we took that apart too. We have had lots of fun taking all the phones apart. The next thing we will try and find out is how sound waves travel through telephones.

S4Solar

This is our solar powed house. We have installed the insulation. And are making the roof for and about to install solar panels. We chose the house so we could share our learning about solar. Solar power runs by sun and can charge your car battery. Mr Solar known as Ben came in to weka and he gave us lots of information.

Lemon powered light bulb

This is a lemon powered light bulb that is powered  by the juice in the lemon. We did this  experiment  because we were interested  about how a lemon would power a light bulb. Our next step is to make a atom. We are going to present our learning using our ART smarts and acting.

Her tongue is as yellow as the sun and she was last seen lurking in the city down James Street. She is wanted for biting and eating over 12 people each day. Don't be her friend because she is very rude, a stalker and mean so be careful because she is always starving. So if you see her contact Oak Wood watch on 9254210. Remember don't get too close or else her wide snout will go snap and you'll be sorry you got close to her.

Wanted Description

WANTED!!!
Have you seen the deadliest crocodile in the land?
She lives in one of the grubbiest, stinkiest swamps in a forbidden part of the Amazon. She has white, razor sharp teeth and a strong jaw that she uses to clamp down on her prey. She has beady eyes and bumpy, scaly skin that is as shadowy and as camouflaged as the rainforest jungle. Beware, and don't be fooled by her ghastly tricks to gobble you up. She really is a creepy, vicious ferocious crocodile who would eat you up at any time! If you do see her I advise you that you should not call out that she should go to jail, just stay calm and quietly call the police. If you do it loudly she will probably you and gobble you up in 2 seconds flat and then walk off like nothing ever happened. She loves lying in the sun and she walks slowly. When she is catching he prey she stalks about and tries not to be seen. If I had her as a pet I would feel frightened towards her because she is always on the way for a tasty looking nibble to munch on!
